The Snicko meter has sparked controversy once more during the India-Australia Test match in Melbourne, with Yashasvi Jaiswal being controversially declared out.

Controversy over Yashasvi Jaiswal's : Yashasvi Jaiswal's dismissal on the last day of the Melbourne Test match created controversy. The Indian team was struggling to save the match at this time and hopes were alive due to Jaiswal's brilliant innings. But the way he got out after being declared caught out on Pat Cummins' ball became a topic of discussion, the decision of which was taken by the snickometer. After this, the decision of Akashdeep's dismissal was also taken by the third umpire with the snickometer, which has created a lot of controversy.
Snickometer became the root of the controversy
In the 71st over, Jaiswal attempted a pull shot on a short delivery from Pat Cummins. The ball ended up in Alex Carey's gloves behind the wicket. The on-field umpire ruled it not out, but the Australian team opted for DRS.
In DRS, there was no visible contact between the ball and the bat on the snickometer, and no sound was detected. Nevertheless, the third umpire interpreted the slight deviation in the ball's direction as evidence of contact with the glove, overturned the on-field umpire's decision, and declared Jaiswal out.
Experts including Gavaskar expressed displeasure
Sunil Gavaskar, commenting on Star Sports, harshly criticized the decision, stating, "The snickometer showed no clear evidence; this decision is entirely incorrect." Deep Dasgupta and Irfan Pathan also described the decision as 'flawed.' Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting defended it, asserting that it was clearly an out.
