Manipur violence : CM N Biren Singh has issued an apology for the violence in Manipur, referring to 2024 as a year of misfortune. He expressed his apologies to the state's residents from May 3, 2023, to the present day.
He expressed, "This entire year has been very unfortunate. I am sorry and wish to apologize to the people of the state from May 3 until today. Many have lost loved ones, and many have left their homes. I deeply regret this and want to apologize. Now, after observing the progress towards peace over the last 3-4 months, I hope that with the new year 2025, normalcy and peace will return to the state. I urge all communities in the state to move past what has happened. We need to forget past mistakes and begin anew. We should all unite for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur."
CM told how many people have lost their lives in Manipur violence so far
Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated, "To date, approximately 200 individuals have lost their lives, around 12,247 FIRs have been filed, 625 suspects have been apprehended, and roughly 5,600 weapons along with explosives and about 35,000 rounds of ammunition have been seized. The central government has supplied ample security forces and sufficient funds to assist displaced families and to construct new homes for those displaced."
