The cases of HMPV infection in Gujarat have increased to three, with an 8-year-old child in Sabarkantha testing positive for the virus.

HMPV Virus : An eight-year-old child from Sabarkantha district in Gujarat has been diagnosed with HMPV. Previously, on Thursday, an 80-year-old man tested positive. Thus, there have been a total of three HMPV cases reported in the state to date.
On Wednesday, January 8, a possible infection case was detected in an 8-year-old child in Himmatnagar town, Sabarkantha district. The child was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Himmatnagar. The blood sample was then sent for testing and came back positive. The child is still in the ICU.
Earlier the test was done in a private laboratory
On Friday (10 January), an official reported that a boy from a family of agricultural laborers in Prantij taluka tested positive for HMPV in a test by a private laboratory. However, health officials have sent his blood samples to a government laboratory for confirmation.
The first case of HMPV was reported in Gujarat on January 6
Following the positive report of an 80-year-old man on Thursday, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation released a statement indicating that the elderly patient had no history of international travel. It was reported that the patient was admitted to a private hospital in Ahmedabad due to worsening health. This elderly patient also suffered from asthma. According to a PTI report, the first case of HMPV in Gujarat was recorded on January 6.
